Julie is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with a Bachelor of Medical Science, Masters of Nutrition and Dietetics, and a PhD in Biochemistry, all completed at the University of Sydney. She has also successfully undertaken Monash University training in the low FODMAP diet for Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Julie began her dietetic career 20 years ago as a clinical dietitian at Hornsby Hospital. She moved into private practice while completing PhD research into insulin resistance and its link to muscle fat content in individuals with sleep apnoea and high cholesterol.
While family commitments became a priority, Julie maintained an avid interest in nutrition and returned to dietetics five years ago to work in her favoured setting of private practice. She enjoys consulting in many areas of dietetics including gastrointestinal disorders, heart health, Type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, and non-diet nutrition and eating behaviours.
Julie acknowledges the demands of family, work, study, and other commitments of her clients. She combines her broad nutrition knowledge, life experience and motivational strategies to work collaboratively and compassionately with her clients in the context of their lifestyle to support nutritional changes that are realistic and sustainable.
